Ultracargo began shipping B100 biodiesel from its Palmeirante terminal to the Port of Itaqui in São Luís do Maranhão (MA), expanding the logistic integration between two relevant hubs of the North Arch. This operation marks the entrance of biofuels into the regional railway net and strengthens the capacity of biodiesel fuel transport for strategic markets of the Brazilian North and Northeast.
The new operation modality reflects the logistic potential of Palmeirante, a municipality located in an area connecting relevant producer and consumer regions. Equipped with an infrastructure prepared to handle these types of shipments, the terminal now plays an even more relevant role in the fuel and biofuel supply chain, contributing to the diversification of transport logistic as well as fostering the increased use of the rail modal for cargo transport.
“The beginning of B100 transport expands the region’s logistic capacity and creates a new alternative for biofuels shipment to the Port of Itaqui. This kind of transport logistic boosts regional integration, opens new opportunities for the services and supplier chain while fostering the economic development of the surrounding regions,” states Douglas Marques, Executive Operations Director at Ultracargo.
