Ultracargo signed the contract for investments in new mooring facilities at the Port of Santos, through the construction of new berths by major liquid bulk terminal operators.

In a ceremony held at the Port of Santos, with the presence of the Minister of Ports and Airports, authorities from the port sector, local leaderships and representatives from the private sector, the contract was formalized to make the project possible – being a decisive step toward expanding the Port’s capacity to handle fuels, biofuels, and chemicals.

The benefits of the new pier are wide-ranging and structural. The investment by Ultracargo in partnership with other companies in such public infrastructure will bring relevant benefits for the entire society.

The new infrastructure will reduce the existing bottleneck at the Port of Santos and enable a wider palette of products to be operated, resulting in tax revenue increase as well as the income of the local port authority, due to the increase in cargo volume.

“The Port of Santos already plays a leading role in this context, but existing bottlenecks show that, to maintain this position, requires to increase its capacity and access facility. The expansion of the pier directly addresses this challenge by enabling a new level of cargo handling and preparing the Port for more intense and sustainable demand,” comments Fulvius Tomelin, Ultracargo’s CEO.

With the new pier, it is expected that Santos will expand its relevance regarding bulk liquids imports, and consequently also increase the volume of goods handled by Ultracargo.
